Perfect Skating Calgary
Intro to Small Area Movement - Late Winter
INTRO TO SMALL AREA MOVEMENT
Note: This introductory program is the first five hours of the full SAM program. Pending ice availability, we will be offering the last five hours of the program at an arena near Oakridge immediately following for those who have completed the introductory session.
Individual Skating Skill Development
While movement pattern perfection is always at our core, the focus of our Small Area Movement program is to challenge the speed and timing of the movement pattern and applicable stick skills in a confined area or space. While challenging athletes in their most dynamic and explosive form, athletes are trained to re-map asymmetrical movement and skill patterns to improve their in-game performance.
Key points on the program include:
- Instructional material and methods are actively developed by Shawn Allard. Movements are based on video study of the best players in the game and the strategies used to dictate play.
- Movement sequences are added in a progression designed to provide players with methodically drilled alternatives to escape, create and dominate play in both offensive and defensive scenarios.
- Instruction is performed at a 4:1 player to coach ratio with no more than 12 players on the ice, thus ensuring players receive the necessary feedback on technique on every rep.
Registration includes a Perfect Skating jersey and socks.
